Penhurst Mansion

Construction of 2 Penthouses within the roof space of Penhurst Mansion

Penhurst Mansion is located in a narrow street in a dense populated area of Fulham, where there is residential parking on both sides of the road.

We are constructing 2 Penthouses within the roof space of the existing building; the residents continue to occupy other areas of the building.

An innovative scaffold design allowed the building to be made weather tight, whilst the existing roof coverings were removed. This also allowed the 9.5 metre long cranked floor beams to be installed without additional temporary works and splice details.

The temporary roof has enabled works to continue unhindered by adverse weather conditions and also allowed work to be carried out with minimal disturbance to the residents in occupation.

Extensive measures were taken to reduce the environmental impact on these works and this has included the re-use of materials salvaged from the demolition works.

The new lift shaft has been built in Yellow London Stocks salved from the internal partitions removed. The existing roof joists and floor joists were graded and those that could be re-used were kept on site. The remainder were taken to a timber recycling facility, registered with the wood recyclers association.

Works are on programme for completion in 2011 and more pictures will be added to the photo gallery as the works progress.
